Banners Juniors
Is this the earliest photo of a football team in Welney? It is obviously a junior or school team, and is thought to be taken around 1900. The two adults are said to be Mr Bearcroft (on left) who was the village Headmaster from 1883 to 1919 and George Smart, the team coach.

This photo has kindly been provided by Mrs Audrey Smart of Minnesota, USA

The ball in this photo is marked "Banner Juniors".  Does anyone out there know anything about this team or the name?
The wall appears to be in the style of a dry stone wall, surely unusual in the fens?

If you can provide any further details about this photo or have any other photos or information about the club please contact Tony Smart or the Webmaster (Peter Cox). Thank you
