LEVERINGTON TREBLE
Having already been beaten twice comprehensively this season by Leverington, it looked as if Croft was about to suffer yet again. At 101 for 2 wkts after only 17 overs a 200 plus score looked a real possibilty. However, most of the remaining overs were bowled by Steve Saberton (2 for 23) and Keiran Gaddam (1 for 14) who both bowled economically with Saberton capturing the important wickets of Embleton (28) and Brown (72) - best of the home bowlers being John Loveday (3 for 33), only conceding 7 runs in his final spell. Leverington's final score 161 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allocated 40 overs.

John Loveday 3 for 33, Gareth Kent 0 for 32, John Rowland 0 for 43, Steve Saberton 2 for 23, Keiran Gaddam 1 for 14, Stephen Kent 1 for 5

In reply Croft's batsmen were soon returning to the pavilion, Stephen Kent (3) in the second over and Steve Saberton (6) in the fourth over, both caught out off T. Moore's bowling. The score reached 50 during the 11th over with 3 wickets down, well ahead of the run rate, Duncan Hobbs (11) unfortunately being run in confusion with Gareth Kent. The middle order batting of Gaddam (10), Parkinson (13), Gareth Kent (18) and Phil Hawes (37) had all kept Croft in the match. With the overs fast running out Ashley Inwood (9) was caught out off Gills bowling with only two balls remaining in the final over - the score having reached 150, just 11 runs short.

Phil Hawes 37 (5 x 4’s), Gareth Kent 18 (1 x 4), Neil Parkinson 13 (2 x 4's), Duncan Hobbs 11 (1 x 4), Keiran Gaddam 10 (2 x 4's)

Team - John Loveday (captain), John Rowland, Neil Parkinson, Duncan Hobbs, Phil Hawes, Steve Saberton, Gareth Kent, Stephen Kent, Keiran Gaddam, Ashley Inwood & Paul Brown.
