BOUGHTON BOWLED OVER
Welney won the toss and decided to bat first and were soon in trouble with both openers Hobbs and Revett back in the pavilion with the score only on 10.
It was left to skipper John Loveday, batting at the No.3 to help the team through their troubles as the wickets continued to fall and to some very mediocre bowling from the visitors.
The middle order collapsed very quickly with Saberton (9), Dale (2), Gareth Kent (8) & Stephen Kent (4) all making quick exits.
The total progressed to 62 for 6 after only 10 overs – although run rate was good, wickets were falling far to quickly.
It was a good day with the bat for bowlers Loveday (34) hitting a 6 and four other boundaries and John Rowland, batting steadily at No.8 for his knock of 19.
Ashley Inwood also held his end up, 37 minutes for his 7 singles, until being trapped LBW.
The final score was a very disappointing 108 in 26 overs, not a match winning score normally.
John Loveday 34 (1 x 6, 4 x 4’s), John Rowland 19 (2 x4’s)
After the tea interval, Boughton were soon struggling with Jon Dale bowling opener Koupawitz with his first ball.
Dale and Steve Saberton then proceeded to completely demoralise the visitors taking the first 7 wickets for only 21 runs in 10 overs, both finishing with impressive bowling figures – Steve 3 for 4 runs and Jon 4 for 10 runs in their 5 over spells.
Percy Bulsara (2 for 3) and Duncan Hobbs (1 for 16) completed the rout with the visitors finishing on 42 in only 13.4 overs.
Steve Saberton 3 for 4, Jon Dale 4 for 10,
Percy Bulsara 2 for 3, Duncan Hobbs 1 for 16.
