Status: Friendly Result: Drawn Welney Croft: 73 - 4 Narborough: did not bat
Rain stopped play – match drawn.

Sunday friendly played at Narborough Hall against Narborough – this season’s Boyle Division One Champions of the Mid-Norfolk Sunday League.

Narborough won the toss and invited Croft to bat first. Starting under already cloudy conditions with the afternoon’s forecast poor, play started early at 1.10 pm. Openers Stephen Kent and John Gill struggled against the pace of the home attack, King and Lovelock – 4 maidens bowled in the first 6 overs. However, the partnership held together for 11 overs, until Kent skied one delivery from Williamson. John Gill gamely battled on for 15 overs until caught behind the wickets, again off Williamson, for 13 (45 mins). No.3 bat Neil Parkinson was extremely unlucky being caught at Fine Leg, otherwise a certain boundary. Best performance for Croft came from Paul Kaminski, an unbeaten knock of 27, including 3 x fours and a mighty six.

The last 30 minutes of play continued in a fine drizzling rain and gradually worsened. After one and a half hours play it was agreed to stop, future prospects looked poor and the captains agreed to call the match off – match drawn. Croft had reached 73 for the loss of 5 wickets after 24 overs.

Paul Kaminski 27 n.o (3 x4’s, 1 x 6) John Gill 13 (2 x 4’s) Wayne Kercher 10 (2 x 4’s)

Team – Steve Revett (captain), Neil Parkinson, Stephen Kent, Gareth Kent, Steve Saberton, Paul Kaminiski, John Gill, David Goodwin, Wayne Kercher, Duncan Hobbs, Oliver Revett, Chris Graves, (12 players)
