LEAGUE DEBUT DEFEAT

After 3 weeks of rain and cancellations the season finally started at Snettisham in this Mid Norfolk Sunday League match Div. 3 Peter Parfitt Division.

The sun was shining, the home side won the toss and invited Croft to bat first. Only 5 overs had past and 3 wickets had fallen with 8 on the board, all bats had been struggling to cope with bowling on a very slow wicket.

However the wicket was to the liking of 'Lol' Herselman batting at No.5, he came to the rescue with a hard hitting 37 in only 16 mins. including 3 massive sixes and with Ashley Legge added 39 for the fifth wicket. Gareth Kent batted doggedly 44 mins. for his 12 enabling Croft to finish on 71.

Lol Herselman 37 (3 x 6's, 2 x 4's) Gareth Kent 12 (1 x 4)

Tea was delayed while Snettisham started their reply and soon settled quickly to the conditions scoring 30 in the first 5 overs without loss. Welney 'old boy' Paul Ingram opened and top scored with 28 before being bowled by Steve Saberton and Jon Dale held a good catch in the deep off Herselman before Snettisham passed Croft's total with ease after only 17 overs with 6 wickets in hand.

The match finished at 4.45 pm, just in time for tea - the whole match had been completed in only 38.2 overs.
